The basics (part 3)

Easing in and easing out

You add some slow down and accelerating effects to your animation by using the easing in and easing out properties associated with motion tweening. Let's take our previous animation and let's add some easing in and easing out effects to it.

the easing out and in slider can be found in the properties panel after you selected a keyframe on the main timeline

motion tween
ease out 100
ease in -100
ease out 100
ease in -100

We don't need to apply an easing out on frame 49 as it will automatically apply the one on frame 1

You can see the final animation below :

Motion tweening is not just about motion

Up till now we just met examples where we had a shape moving on the screen but motion tweening is not just about motion. Motion tweening can can be used to create an animation by changing other properties of symbols on the stage. Have a look at some other examples below.

All the following examples are using 3 keyframes with a frame rate of 24

These are just a few examples that illustrate the possibilities of motion tweening.

Good luck :)
